Spoiler alert for the events of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. If you haven't seen it yet, what are you thinking?!
One of the biggest shocks in Star Wars: The Last Jedi was how the movie handled Snoke, who was seemingly set up as the Big Bad of the new trilogy. It just wasn't meant to be, and Snoke followed the fate of many other Star Wars baddies: getting chopped in half by his own pupil. It was so surprising that some fans think that Snoke can't possibly be dead, and will return for a future Star Wars movie. The jury's still out on that one, but if Andy Serkis ever gets that call, he would gladly whip out his mo-cap suit once again.
It's a great character, and I'd be keen. I know it frustrated a lot of people that Snoke came to such a sticky end so quickly, but I loved that big scene and the relationship between Daisy Ridley's character and Snoke --- and where it goes from there and what escalates from that moment, you know the fight that kicks off after that. So I really think it's great in the movie, but yeah, I could quite happily --- I'd be very happy to extend Snoke's life for sure.
In one of the best scenes in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Rey confronts Supreme Leader Snoke is his chamber with Kylo Ren. Snoke, thinking there's no limit to how much you can berate and emotionally manipulate someone until they bite back, orders Kylo to kill Rey. Kylo opts to attack Snoke instead, remotely slicing him in half before Snoke even got up from his chair. It's a genuinely shocking moment, mostly because it subverts bad guy tropes by killing the villain in the middle of the movie. But Star Wars being Star Wars, it's not like there isn't an opportunity for Snoke to come back in some way.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Andy Serkis was asked if he would return for Star Wars: Episode IX, should J.J. Abrams come calling. Serkis answered that he would gladly return if he got the call, but said that he was a fan of how Snoke went out and what escalated out of that death. This writer shares Serkis' opinion that in the context of the film, Snoke's death is really well handled and it sparks some truly excellent following scenes. While people can theorize that Snoke has a clone or will be a ghost, I think that Snoke has already fulfilled his purpose. I wouldn't object to a flashback scene, though.
