If you had to point to a moment that embroiled the DC film universe in controversy from the start, in the past it even was a cinematic universe, it would be the stop of Man of Steel. After the massive battle of Metropolis, which caused damage upon an insane scale, Superman was provoked to execute General Zod, snapping his neck to keep an saintly relations from his heat vision. For the huge blue boy scout to acknowledge a vigor in this pretentiousness ran counter to the character's ethos for many fans, as Superman is often defined as a hero who doesn't kill. But for actor Henry Cavill, this conflict wasn't a violation of Superman's creed, but the catalyst for it, as he explained:
The killing of Zod would have led to a extraordinary explanation why Superman never kills. Not, he never kills just because his father said correspondingly one day. He made the decision himself because of an impossible scenario, to which he later said, 'I don't care if it's impossible again, I'm gonna find a pretentiousness to create it realizable in the impossible.
As Henry Cavill told Square Mile, he sees the conflict of killing General Zod in Man of Steel as the business that cements the no-killing declare in Superman's mind. Not some idealistic lesson from his father, but having firsthand experience of what it means to execute someone is the business that makes him have that declare in the first place. From that moment forward, covenant the ramifications, Superman vows to never accomplish it again. It's from here that he began the transition to the traditional Superman who never kills and is a beacon of wish and fine that we all know.
This reasoning does create methodical suitability within the context of the film. Man of Steel is the parentage tally of Henry Cavill's Superman. He isn't some seasoned pro, but someone who is just learning who he is, what he's capable of, where he comes from, and who he is supposed to be. Therefore, this is the first times he is ever confronted following having to execute someone.
I'm clear Superman purists may acknowledge umbrage following this reasoning and think that Superman's belief in never killing should be innate, and allowance of his upbringing and who he is. It shouldn't be something that he has to experience to create going on his mind about. But monster staunchly next to something in the abstract critical of monster faced following it in a real-life business are two categorically interchange things.
We see Superman pleading following Zod to stop, we see his fear as he makes the marginal and in the wake of it. He isn't some cold-blooded killer, but someone who was faced following a hopeless decision to either execute or allow innocents die. There is an ruckus to be made that to be loyal to the air he shouldn't have been put in such a business in the film or should have found marginal way, but personally within the context of the scene as it stands, I saw it as him having no supplementary option.
I'm clear this will be debated permanently but hopefully we'll eventually acquire a Man of Steel 2 to see more of Henry Cavill's Superman and his journey. In the meantime you can check out our guide for all of the latest from DC's movie universe.

A significant part of the problem here is the fact that The New Mutants has been planning reshoots, but those reshoots still haven't happened. As explained by Maisie Williams in the interview, the extra days of production are supposed to help the film be a bit scarier - in an attempt, presumably, to try and take advantage of the current horror boom - but if new material has been written
