It has been roughly speaking two full decades past Reese Witherspoon's Elle Woods worked her pretension through Harvard affect researcher to fix it to her ex-boyfriend, and the legacy of Legally Blonde remains as powerful as ever. The film stands as a surprisingly compelling fable of female empowerment, serving as the launching pad for a franchise that includes a sequel and a stage adaptation. Most fans know how it ends, but it's been revealed that the native relation of the film's conclusion would've been different, in imitation of a broader focus upon the warm subplot. Legally Blonde co-writer Karen McCullah explained:
Originally it ended at the courthouse right after the trial. Everyone was congratulating Elle, and Emmett came going on and gave her a huge kiss. subsequently there was a tag where it was a year in the cutting edge and she and Vivian, who was now blond, had started the Blonde true defense Fund and they were in the quad handing out pamphlets.
Sometimes a improved idea rises to the summit in imitation of filmmakers offer it times to reach so, and that's exactly what happened in the act of Legally Blonde. The native relation of the film ended in imitation of Elle defeating her ex-boyfriend, Warner, in court, and closed upon a kiss between her and Emmett. yet completely a victory for Elle, but in imitation of a far afield deeper focus upon who she ended going on in imitation of at the end of the story.
As is often the act in imitation of films in imitation of these, the upfront audience answer played a significant role in how Legally Blonde evolved and moved forward. In fact, Karen McCullah along with explained in her conversation in imitation of EW that the changes made to Legally Blonde's finale largely stemmed from notes acquired during test screenings. The writer explained:
The test-screening audience didn't atmosphere in imitation of it was an risk-taking tolerable ending for her, success-wise. The kiss made it seem in imitation of it was a rom-com.
Of course, as fans already know, even though Legally Blonde completely maintains some of the hallmarks of the rom-com genre, it is most completely not a warm comedy at its core. It's roughly Elle's journey, and the film hammers that idea house in the unchangeable scene, during which the newly-minted graduate from Harvard gives a rousing speech to her fellow students. Check it out, below.
Without that ending, it's hard to imagine that Legally Blonde would've developed the thesame degree of staying skill that it has experienced in imitation of audiences. in imitation of a cult following, and demand for a third installment (from fans, as with ease as insiders in imitation of Reese Witherspoon), we think it's safe to tell that the right decision was made in the long run.
So, there you have it. Legally Blonde roughly speaking ended in a completely vary way, and that likely would've untouched much of the sharpness that fans have of it. make positive to allow us know what you think of this alternate ending in the comments, and head over to our 2018 movie premiere lead to see what movies are upon the horizon in the coming year!
